Frequently Asked Questions:

FLEXIPOINTS AND FLEXIZONES - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

FlexiPoints only apply to Services F1 & F2 (Newburgh -St Andrews) but only on the section of route between Newburgh and Cupar. Services F1 & F2 run like normal bus services on a fixed route, with a fixed timetable but they can be diverted (by phoning in advance) to serve additional, nearby villages. These villages are known as 'FlexiPoints.' FlexiZones only apply to Services F3 & F4. These services serve large, rural areas called 'FlexiZones.' Within each FlexiZone there are many villages, hamlets and farms. Travel is permitted anywhere within a FlexiZone or, for Service F3 only, to/from the FlexiZone from/toLeuchars Railway Station.

MUST I ALWAYS PHONE IF I WANT TO TRAVEL?

'Yes' - for Services F3 & F4 and 'Maybe' for Services F1 & F2. Services F3 & F4 operate any time within a specified time period - there's no timetable - and you must book your journey just like you would phone for a taxi. You can book one journey, a return trip or a few journeys in the same phone call and you can book from one week down to one hour before you want to travel. Services F1 & F2 run like normal bus services on a fixed route, with a fixed timetable but they can be diverted (by phoning in advance) to serve additional, nearby villages (FlexiPoints). You only need to phone if you want PICKED-UP from a FlexiPoint. If you want to GO TO a FlexiPoint, just tell the driver as you board the bus. If you want to travel to/from points on the normal route then there's no need to phone - the bus operates like any normal bus service.

MY VILLAGE ISN'T INCLUDED AS A FLEXIPOINT OR WITHIN A FLEXIZONE - CAN I STILL TRAVEL?

No. The FlexiZone zone boundaries are clearly defined as are the FlexiPoints (check Where Can I Go?). If you feel your village is close enough to be included within a FlexiZone or as a FlexiPoint then Contact us.

CAN I TRAVEL ON SUNDAY?

The only Sunday journeys on Go-Flexi are for Services F1 & F2 and these only operate between Balmullo and St Andrews.

WHY CAN'T WE JUST HAVE 'NORMAL' BUS SERVICES?

Most of the current FlexiPoints and FlexiZones previously had no buses or a very infrequent bus service. The cost of running a normal bus service was often excessive and the times and routes didn't really suit everyone living throughout a vast, rural area. The 'demand responsive' concept ('phone and go') is an attempt to provide more journeys to more places more often for more people.

WHAT VEHICLES ARE USED ON GO-FLEXI SERVICES?

Services F1 & F2 use 29-seat, wheelchair accessible buses which are painted all over in the distinctive green/blue/orange Go-Flexi colours and operated by Stagecoach in Fife (Occasionally, the buses used may be in Stagecoach livery - red, blue, orange and white). Services F3 & F4 use 7-seat, wheelchair accessible people-carriers operated by Town & Country Taxis, which display the Go-Flexi logo and service number in the front window.

CAN I USE MY CONCESSION CARD ON GO-FLEXI SERVICES?

Yes. The Scottish National Entitlement Card (myFife) can be used.

CAN I TAKE A WHEELCHAIR OR PRAM ON BOARD?

Yes. It may be worth mentioning this when you phone for Services F3 or F4 to make sure there's enough room.

CAN OTHER PEOPLE TRAVEL WITH ME?

Yes. This shouldn't be a problem on Services F1 & F2, which use 29-seat buses and so will have plenty of room for passengers. However, for Services F3 & F4 you must phone and tell the operator how many people are travelling with you. Even if you have a journey already booked for yourself, it would be helpful to let the operator know if someone else wants to join you. Remember, Services F3 & F4 can only carry 7 passengers at the one time and other people may have booked and be travelling on the same journey as you.

WHY ARE THERE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE - I BOOKED THE JOURNEY FOR MYSELF? (SERVICES F3 & F4 ONLY).

Although Services F3 & F4 operate like taxi services they are not exactly the same. You can't demand to have an exclusive journey - if someone else wants to travel at the same time as you then it makes sense to pick up other people on the way. In this way, time is saved and more journeys can be provided.

WHY WON'T THE DRIVER PICK ME UP FROM MY FRONT DOOR?

FlexiPoints and FlexiZones are, naturally, flexible in the way they are used as pick-up/drop-off points. Whilst the driver will do his/her best to pick you up/drop you off from your chosen point, there may be locations where it is either unsafe to stop, difficult to access or difficult to turn the vehicle. Please be understanding if you have to make a short walk to/from the vehicle.

I LIVE IN BALMULLO / ST MICHAELS / LEUCHARS / GUARDBRIDGE. MUST I NOW PHONE IF I WANT TO TRAVEL?

No. Previously, you were served by Stagecoach Services 94 & 94A. To increase travel opportunities, we've combined the 'old' F1 & F2 services with the 'old' 94 & 94A services, giving you more journeys and a new direct service to the areas west of Cupar. The 'new' F1 & F2 run like any 'normal' bus service through your area - you just turn up at the bus stop at the time the bus is due and off you go.
